Story of the Window Bird

A Picture of the bird that flew into the window of our garage... and survived!

~~Story Time~~

My mom went to reset the power breaker because it went off in our trailers, and the bird flew right into a window inside our garage. We didn't know if it was dead, alive, or if its neck was broken. I took a washcloth and went to pick it up, and as I covered it with the washcloth it made some noises and started flapping its wings, so we knew for sure it was alive. I repositioned the washcloth so it could see, and grabbed another washcloth to hold it with while I used the first to protect my hands from its claws and support the bird.

'Picture Time' was short, because I didn't want the bird to go into shock; I didn't even know if it was in shock or not. I set it down on the ground near a patch of trees that was open enough to where we could keep an eye on it, yet allow the bird to feel safe enough and to recover from its ordeal. I am almost positive that the bird knocked itself unconcious, and thought it would be dead because of the way its head and neck was positioned until I moved its head to a more comfortable pose.

15 minutes later, my mom and I went to check on the bird and it was still there, but notably more alert than it was before. We gave it 20 feet of space, and sure enough right then it flew away as if it were never hurt in the first place. We watched it fly to a tree about a hundred or so yards away.
